What a lovely visit we received the other day. Janet who has houses in NSW and also on the Isle of Bute stopped by after doing some research to have a look at the Ennerdale Fold and discuss the way we manage the cattle. We had a good look at the bulls who were on their best behaviour and although Gilly is not too used to strangers but he got through it OK. We had a good look at the females next and discussed structure, muscling, capacity and our fundamental Ennerdale aim of temperament. The discussion was aimed at systemic approach and our aim to breed premium quality beef cattle and it could be said that most (but not all) of our Highland cattle are at the larger end of the bell curve. We aim to have a good spread representative of the breed to carry our name forward.
It was most comforting to know that Janet had been visiting bushfire ravaged communities in southern NSW on behalf of the Rotary Club of Bute and was determining the best place to deliver funds raised in Bute for their NSW cousins. It is great to know that our Scottish cousins have stepped forward in this critical situation.
We hope to see Janet soon and with a little luck, Janet will be taking a couple of Ennerdale females to act as a basis for her fold.
